January - February Run Report
Aquagolf / Wallacia Pub
Saturday 19th January .
What a difference a year makes! This time 12 months ago it was over 40 degrees and sweltering, and now 19 degrees, cold wet and windy.
Despite the wet weather it is club policy that we meet at the appointed time and place to decide if there are to be any changes to the run programme. It was decided (very wisely) that golf just wasn’t going to happen and we would go to Wallacia Pub for an early meal.
This turned out to be an interesting drive for Darren (on his first run). His right hand wiper arm decided to part company with the rest of the car, not something needed in the heavy rain of Saturday afternoon, but with Dave’s Rainex and the knowledge that there was a cold beer and a hot meal waiting, he made the trip to the pub without problems.
As we were a little earlier than planned we had no trouble in getting seating for the group despite there being plenty of people at the pub for the live music.
After a cool drink, a hearty meal and a chat the group started to head off home, albeit a little earlier than planned.
Those who made the trek in the rain were:
Alan & Denise Reid – Monaro CV8Z
Loren Reid & Peter Biggs - Lancer
Sandy & Susan Ferrier + Caitlyn, Cameron & Joshua – Toyota Camry
David Ball – Red LJ
Darren Thomas + a mate – Green 253 LJ
Brian & Jason Ashcroft + Terry Hill – VE Commodore SV6
Gavin & Karen Adamson + Daniel & Cameron – Blue (with graphics) LX Hatch
On the way out from the pub we met Shane in his Yellow Chev powered LX Hatch who had planned on coming to the run but with the changes had missed us at the starting point.
Thanks to all those who attended and made it a great night. It was good to see club spirit shining through the gloom of a wet and windy day

Newington Armoury ~ Social Run Saturday 9th February
Sydney's run of bad weather caught up with us again!
Intrepid members, Sandy, Susan, Caitlyn, Cameron & Joshua Ferrier, Alan & Denise Reid, David Ball, Ken Scorer, Daniel Dupavillon, Ralph Falcone & son Alex braved the weather to attend. On arrival at the site the weather eased to give enough time to have a quick look around but the break did not last long and the storm clouds with lightening and thunder soon returned.
Not being quite the weather to be outdoors it was decided to call it quits and head off for a very pleasant lunch at Bi-Centennial Park befor heading home.
Despite the weather it was a good day out and it has been decided that if Dave can organise a fine day, the Armoury would be a good place to revisit. Thanks for those members who braved the weather, hopefully we can get a fine day soon for further club runs!

Jenolan Caves
Sunday 17th February
Despite Dave’s best rain dance efforts we managed to get through a run with out rain – a first for 2008!
The group assembled early at the M4 Maccas for a 7.00 departure time. 9 Toranas set off for the leisurely two hour trip over the mountains to Jenolan. Ken had to do some speedy driving to catch up when he misplaced his keys in the carpark as everyone was leaving. The drive up was uneventful with some highway driving and some interesting windy mountain roads on the way down to the caves.
Arriving fairly early at Jenolan Caves meant that parking was not a problem for the group and there were no problems getting everyone into the 11.00am tour of the Imperial Cave. We had 24 people booked into the one hour tour, which was long enough for some of the children (and probably the adults as well). Lots of narrow pathways and low roofs meant there were plenty of sore backs and bumped heads during the tour.
Back on the surface some of the more adventurous took in the free self guided tour around Devils Archway which consisted of lots of stairways in and around the rock grottos.
It was then back to the carpark where Daniel was elected unopposed to be the BBQ chef for lunch. He did such a good job that this just might become a permanent position!
During lunch Tim suggested that a photo shoot of all the Toranas in the Devils Archway would be a good idea. This turned out to be a little more difficult than first envisaged as the roadway through is a tight public roadway - with tour busses.
With typical club precision we had busses and other traffic backing out of the way so we could achieve our photo shoot which was appreciated by some of the onlookers who also took the opportunity to take photos of all the cars lined up. Well done to Tim for his idea.
Then it was time to get all of the cars out of the area and head off back up the mountain and home.
Thanks go to Dave for his organisation of another good run (without rain) and those who joined us.
