August Run Report

22nd All Holden Day
Sunday 5th August

With an early start for most, our 12 Toranas and 1 WB Statesman assembled on site at Hawkesbury Showground by 8.30am. We the set about positioning our cars to give them maximum exposure to the public and leaving enough room for spectators to move about without causing any damage to paintwork. With our club tent, BBQ and merchandise tables set up we soon had a brisk passing trade of lookers and buyers. There were also quite a few membership enquiries on the day with several interested people taking applications for membership to the club.

During the course of the day we all had time to field questions about our cars, the club and still have time to get about and view some of "The General's Finest". With 750 cars entered on the day and many more being turned away, it is a credit to the AHD organising committee that everything went so well and was so well patronised.

Fortunately there was no rain on the day but the dust for some was a problem. Our location though, with grass and surrounded by a tarred road kept our cars in good order.

Presentation of trophies commenced at approx 3.00pm and Daniel's Chateau Mauve LC/LJ won a trophy for Car of the Day. Well done Daniel.

 Well done Daniel.

Overall an excellent showcase of our club and it's cars, congratulations to all who attended on the high quality of presentation.

EH Annivesary Car show
Sunday 19th August

What a shame. The rain beat the show organisers into submission.  By 7.45am on the day the show had to be cancelled due to the bad weather. We had 6 Toranas and 3 others on site by our appointed meeting time and with many phone calles being made to and from other members we managed to contact all of those we thought were coming or had pre-entered to tell them of the bad news.

A quick chat in the adajacent carpark and it was decided that a hot breakfast at Auburn Maccas would be the go so after a quick photo shoot our convoy headed off to get out of the pouring rain. Many others had the same idea as the Maccas car park looked as if a local car show was being held there.

Coffee and a talk and it was time to head off and ponder what might have been.

Thanks to those who did make it in the rain.
