Len's 1976 LX SS Hatchback

I purchased my 1976 LX SS hatch  Aug 2005.  two years ago but as we all know trying to find a good one is getting extremely hard, so I purchased one that needed a fair amount of work (not the smartest thing to do being a mechanic) should have got one that only needed some drive line repairs, being a glutton for punishment I totally striped it out, made myself a spit roast machine and sent it out for bead blasting and got to work. As you will see in the photo's every nut & bolt has been removed and every part reconditioned, There have been many mods done to the Torrie but you may not notice them at first glance until you have a closer look. The rebuild took 2 1/2 years just in time for the Mc Happy Day 2007.

Some of the mods.

Full length chassis rails, boxed rear control arms, adjustable four link rear suspension, 9in diff with Eaton lsd, disc brake rear brakes, 4in custom tail shaft,120lt drop tank, Tremic TKO 5 speed transmission, chev 383cin 4bolt main steel crank & rods ,AFR aluminium heads 1.6 roller rockers 1/2" lift 230 duration cam custom made 1 7/8 extractors  and the list goes on, output 513 HP @5,900 rpm 503 ft LB at 4,200. electric VY SS commodore seats with matching rear seats and door trims, VDO sat nav , And for the best mod of all I made my own air conditioning system and integrated it into the original air box and controls so I can have warm a/c air or just bloody cold on a 40 deg day, most people never notice it until they ask me what are those hoses doing going into the firewall.

Paint:
Holden HSV sting red & BMW  Cosmos Black metallic

Economy; pathetic,

I tried to build the car as It should have come out of the factory and have added as many new mod cons as I could, and it also must comply with all the R.T.A regulations so It won't get defected.? even the charcoal  canister was retained and does work.
